Wedding dresses, wow, how do I start talking about 'The Dress'? Ok, time to publicly show my feminine side, and be proud of it! The build up, tension, and anticipation that is felt moments before the Bride walks down the aisle is an incredibly emotional moment. Sure, people are interested in how the Bride will wear her hair, they will be interested in her make up, and of course they will be interested in her bouquet. But how about 'The Dress'? When the bride walks down the aisle, there will be loads of pairs of eyes looking at the one she's chosen. Do you remember the build up before the Royal Wedding last year of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge? It's no different at any other wedding.

This build up and anticipation starts many months before the day of the wedding, and guess what, I'm convinced from my experience that every single Bride goes through this process. Firstly, a respectable shop needs to be selected, not an easy task in itself. Then the Bride will want to choose who out of her friends and family is to be part of this process. Then the dress selection process starts, and of course the dress fitting swiftly follows. Maybe there will be a few glasses of bubbly drunk, plenty of giggles, and I'm guessing the odd tear to be shed as well. The final fitting will be scheduled, and then the delivery of the finished product, ie 'The Dress' will take place. And this is all before the big day itself.

Blimey, what a build up? My wife Harriet went through this process a few years ago, and utterly enjoyed the experience. Sadly the Groom has a slightly more (manly cough) low key version, because, hmm, I don't know why really! Anyway, back to my feminine side again. Choosing 'The Dress' really is a big deal. So how can I as a Wedding Photographer capture the beauty of 'The Dress'?

'The Dress' will feature in all of the photos of the Bride during the day of course. But I'm after more than that. I try to capture the pre-ceremony build up as well. For example the location of the Bridal prep, and any detail within the dress. Is it because of my feminine side that I aim to capture this, or is it because I hope it will help the Bride remember the choosing, fitting, delivery and the build up even more before the start of the ceremony? Here goes with my latest collection of Wedding Dresses.
