Last year I started a new series of blog posts called 'Just Two', let me explain the reasons behind it. One of the very first things I do immediately after photographing a wedding is making sure all the images are backed up for utmost security. This is such an important process, which goes without saying, and is where I often get distracted by the actual photos. There are many moments whilst shooting during the day where I think there could be strong images, or keepers as I call them. And it's during the backup I have a quick nose to see if that is the case.

Last Sunday morning was no different. I had shot a wedding up in Derbyshire at the excellent Peak Edge Hotel near Chesterfield the previous day, and was keen to get cracking on backing up first thing. The computer and hard drives were switched on, memory cards loaded, then my foot started twitching in anticipation of seeing the photos for the first time. The Bride's bouquet was particularly stunning, and I remembered taking this first shot during the Bridal preparations in her suite. At first I struggled to find somewhere to shoot the bouquet, but then noticed the champagne cork had a reflection on the coffee table, job done. A few minutes later, with champagne bottle and glasses cleared this was the result. It's always nice to shoot the bouquet at different times of the wedding day in different situations. The second of this week's Just Two images was taken at the end of the Bride and Groom 'formals'. We had left the wedding venue for a few minutes to head out to Beeley Moor on the edge of the Derbyshire National Park.

Remember last weekend was sunny and warm? A gorgeous day in fact for a wedding, which is fantastic for the Bride and Groom and their guests. During such sunny days, late afternoon can give us some lovely natural back lighting. This style of shot only takes a few seconds to do, and isn't it priceless? Awesome subject, very different location, with the Bride included this time with stunning lighting. It's the same bouquet as the first image, but somehow feels very different. I love this image so much, I've just ordered a fancy table display of it to use at an upcoming wedding fayre.More images to follow once the post processing and other duties are finished.
