A couple of weeks ago the IOTW No.6 I spoke about being positioned towards the back of the church looking down the aisle. That particular image was of flower decorations. There are of course many other things to look out for that could be seen down the aisle which a wedding photographer might find interesting....

It can be said that an 'aisle' seat is a prime position for people. However it's also practical for a number of reasons. Sometimes parents with babies or toddlers will locate themselves on the aisle, in case of the need to quickly evacuate. Likewise it's a favourite position for children, especially if they find it difficult to sit still and not fidget!?!

Church wedding photography

Background - Last summer I second shot for Cathy of Oehlers Photography a few times (see www.oehlersphotography.co.uk) who is based over in Nottinghamshire. Cathy took the available option to stand at the front of the church facing the Bride and Groom. This meant I could position myself at the back of the church to cover the other viewpoint from the rear. Using different lenses and looking out for opportunities I was able to capture the above image. Again it's far from an award winning image, however the composition includes the Bride and Groom, the church, an unusual low viewpoint and an inquisitive boy. I have no idea what his name was, or how he was connected to the couple, but it's an easy photograph to take that helps paint a picture of the day. It may even make the wedding album.

Technical Details :

Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mk11

Aperture - f2.8Shutter - 1/160 sec

ISO - 2,000Lens - 24-70mm f2.8 L USM at 28mm

This image was post processed using Adobe Lightroom with my preferred method of subtle adjustments to levels and curves, and slight noise reduction due to the 'high' ISO.
