Hartlebury Castle in Worcestershire is quite an extraordinary building, rich history, and in recent years has offered itself as a unique wedding venue. Hartlebury Castle has very pretty grounds and in particular an impressive tree lined entrance lane. But it's once you explore the interior that you begin to appreciate the beauty of the building, and can certainly see why it is such a popular place to visit. Originally built in the 13th century, this Grade 1 listed building has been the main residence to the Bishop of Worcester up until 2007. During the Civil War in 1646, Hartlebury Castle was strongly fortified and was held for King Charles 1st, and was protected by 120 soldiers and 20 horse cavalry troopers with enough provisions for a full year. There aren't many wedding venues that can boast such history!

Hartlebury Castle holds a current licence to perform civil ceremonies, and is available to hire for a wedding service, wedding celebrations or both. The Medieval Great Hall, Bishops Study and Georgian Saloon offer beautiful and historic options for your celebrations. For drinks receptions, outside the Carriage Circle offers a lovely option for you and your guests to enjoy the day. The 18th Century Saloon can host up to 80 guests for a wedding ceremony, and up 60 for a wedding breakfast. With the much larger Great Hall, which has been used for banquets since medieval times, can seat up to 120 guests for a ceremony and up to 100 guests for wedding breakfasts.

The Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust is responsible for the Castle, and is a registered charity.

Located on the edge of the beautiful village of Hartlebury, nestled in the middle of the Worcestershire countryside. Just five miles from Kidderminster, and eight miles from Worcester, the Castle is accessible via the A449 main road. Hartlebury Castle has beautiful grounds set within a 43 acre estate. It is becoming an increasingly popular visitor attraction, and offers a modern and separate café to the side of the spacious car park.

Sally & Chris had their wedding ceremony and celebrations at Hartlebury Castle, and I was privileged to be their wedding photographer. I first met them at an Open Day elsewhere in Worcestershire before they asked me to be their photographer. We held their 'Get To Know You Shoot' at Hartlebury Castle a few weeks before their wedding which was a fun session, click here to see a link to this shoot. And here is another link, this time that goes to their wedding day. The weather was a little off and on, but it was such a fun day and we certainly made the best of it.
