Day 4 of this week's mini series of blog posts sees us move away from the Bridal Preparations of the last two days, and the 'Get to know you shoot' from Monday. Today I shall show you another easy peasy surface to look for when shooting at weddings, and I'll always look out for this every wedding I attend..... Cars. "You what Martin, you are such a bloke!" I hear you sigh. Hear me out on this and let me show you.

Jaguar Wedding Car

Just like the other images this week, no clever photoshop trickery here, just a plain simple reflection. Nothing spectacular again, and perhaps I should wait a little longer for that invitation to the Hall of Fame of Photographers, but this is quite a personal shot to the Groom. He works for the Jaguar Land Rover car manufacturer, and had to try very hard to get his hands on this brand new Jaguar F-Type for his wedding day. It was also a surprise for his Bride, he wanted to drive off after the service with the top down, hair and veil flowing in the wind and all that fabulous romantic stuff. So the fact that he was able to achieve his goal of having this F-Type makes it all that more poignant. There's a couple of other things I like about this image: Even though the colour of the car's paint work is a dark green (or British Racing Green for the petrol heads) you can see the gorgeous blue sky; something none of us expected to see because the weather forecast was for rain. And secondly, I managed to capture and angle in the bell tower of their church to put a location on the shot. This photograph is again only a filler image in the day's coverage, I of course shot other photos of the wedding car and church during the day, but nice all the same to be creative. This is just another example of how a photographer's mind can work, and uses reflective surfaces to his/her advantage. When the Bride and Groom came round to my office a couple of weeks ago to view their images, I had a very positive reaction to this shot. Who cares about the 'Hall of Fame' invition, when I experience happy emotions from couples. If you enjoyed reading this article, and missed yesterday's image in this mini series, then click here for the link. Tomorrow's reflection image will be the final in the mini series this week, and of course I believe I've left the best til last. So far the reflective surfaces we've used this series have been a canal boat, a mirror, a hairdressers window and today's Jaguar wedding car. Tomorrow's is very unusual and I suspect no-one will ever guess what it is. Have a great day everyone.
