July 2012

Last week I took a short break away from my wedding work before it goes bonkers over August and September. I had organised a few nights stay in Penzance close to the edge of the country. Being a passionate photographer I obviously took my camera kit hoping for some decent sunrise and sunset sessions. I also took my bike to have a blast about on.

Last week was when the jet stream was still pummelling the country before this current bout of gorgeous weather. However I swear the mistral wind paid a visit, along with a hurricane, typhoon, whirlwind and any other extreme version that I've forgotten the name of. Ok I exaggerate a little bit, but flipping heck it was windy. I got rather nervous standing on the edge of Lands End that's for sure. Quite why I tried anyway I don't know, because the sea spray soon messed up my camera filters. And that was when it wasn't raining!

I do love Cornwall and have come to expect the odd day of dodgy weather down there. It was a good job I took my bike; this meant I burnt off a load of calories cycling up and down hills. Going against the wind was brutal, but brilliant fun when it was blasting from behind. I ate way too many Cornish Pasties and Fish and Chips, but hey, that's what you do when you are on holiday isn't it?

With a total of four possible sunrise opportunities, and four possible sunsets, I managed just the one of each due to the weather. I had an excellent visit: I bet people down there now are having an even better time now this weather has improved.

I'm just about to start a very busy period of weddings, with eight coming up in the next two months. My next one is this Friday at Hodstock Priory in Nottinghamshire, and then Shottle Hall which is part of the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire, on Thursday next week. I'll do my best to keep you all up to date as much as I can. In the meantime here are a few images from my hols, including St.Michael's Mount.
