April 2014

I get to meet many couples at wedding fayres and it's always fun having have a chat with them, hearing how their plans are going, where they plan to get married, what their theme will be etc. It's always nice when after a few days after a fayre, I hear back from a couple, meet up with them again and then be asked to shoot their day. Back in the autumn of 2012 I displayed at a local fayre close to Leamington Spa at Chesford Grange, where other West Midlands Wedding Photographers were displaying, and met Sarah and James. It was a fun meeting and one that was to develop along the way up to and including their wedding.Background - Sarah and James's wedding took place at the unique Woodlands B&B in Alvechurch near Redditch. Like most couples, they had a particular theme in mind for their day and had planned meticulously for it. A large marquee had been erected and hosted the celebrations in a festival style. When it came to their Bride and Groom formal photographs there were quite a few options.

Sarah--James-8

So why do I like this photo? It pretty much just about sums up both Sarah and James. They are such a fun loving, caring couple, and I feel as though this comes across well in this image. Plus, I am a bit of a sucker for using the 'lead in line' compositional tool. In this case my bald patch was firmly planted nice and close against a garden shed, using a shallow depth of field, helped create the 'lead in line'.Technical Details:Camera - Canon EOS 5D MkllLens - EF 24-70 f2.8L USMAperture - f3.2Shutter - 1/320ISO - 800Exposure Bias - +1/3EVThis image was processed using Adobe Lightroom with subtle adjustments to levels and curves, and colour saturation. If you enjoyed this 'Image of the week' blog post, you might be interested in a similar article also taken from a wedding last summer of an emotional Groom, click here for the link.
