Today's blog post is about Sarah and James's 'Get to know you shoot' from a couple of weeks ago, taken at Coughton Court here in Warwickshire. Sometimes a GTKYS takes place at the venue where the wedding will be, at other times neutral sites are used for a change. This is the option Sarah and James went for, and what a great location to play around in. So how did it go?Like many couples, Sarah and James aren't used to being photographed, so I had to think about how to distract them and help ease themselves into this situation. They were also keen to avoid what they call 'traditional style' posing. This is of course subjective, and while some people might call a certain shot contempory styled, others might call it traditional. I put my thinking cap on and came up with some ideas that I thought they might like.I also had a bit of background into their themed wedding next month, which helped me understand more of their preferred style. One of the stars of the evening was their Converse All Star shoes. Here are a few images.

As you can see the shoot had loads of character and was a heap of fun, helped along by me constantly calling Sarah by a wrong name of Gemma (really sorry, Sarah)!?! After the shoot we went to the closest pub where we spoke more about their wedding. I'm so looking forward to it - just four weeks to go. Please note they chose a different style of post production as well. The colours, tones and textures have all been adapted for their style during editing. If you enjoyed this GTKYS blog post, you might be interested in seeing Gemma (!) and Chris's equivalent earlier this summer, click here for the link.
